Conventional
A conventional fire alarm system is the most common type used in the UK. It consists of several components that work together to detect and warn people about a potential fire.
This is done by smoke or heat detectors, and manual call points. When a detector is triggerd, it sends a signal to the fire alarm control panel which then signals the alarm bells and strobes, warning people in the building about a fire.
At this point it can stop building extract systems, shut off gas and close fire doors to contain the fire and smoke restricting it from spreading and help with safer escapes.
Smoke detectors are commonly used in fire alarm systems. However, some modern fire alarm systems also use new technologies like heat detectors, optical beam smoke detectors, and flame detectors.
