Keyholders
Being a keyholder is easy, if you are prepared, here are a few tips:
Keep the keys to the property in a safe place or on your key ring.
Ask to set and unset the alarm system when you are next visiting and remember where the keypad is located.
Why keyholders are needed
The Police require that all owners of buildings fitted with a intruder or fire alarm system nominate at least three people to act as keyholders who can be contacted if the alarm is activated whilst the building is unoccupied.

What does a keyholder need to know?
- How to unlock the door's of the property
- Where the control panel and keypad are locate
- The alarm keypad code number which you have been allocated (by the owner of the property to operate the system) please memorise this and do not write it down
- Your code word/PIN number for the Alarm receiving center
- The telephone number of the Alarm Receiving Centre is displayed on or next to the system and that of the nearest police station
- The telephone number of the alarm company’s service bureau which is 0845 004 85 85 or 07855 806362 out of hours.

- How to contact the owner (this should include work and mobile telephone numbers and contact numbers when they are on holiday)
- Where the system log book is kept (this could be electronic and on-line)

- Clear smoke if a smoke system is fitted (see below
